my very first post!

How exciting. My very first post to Branching Fig!

To start off, I wanted to share some DIYs from my recent wedding. Crafting and taking on these special projects was a really fun way to prepare for the big day. As you might know, even the simplest of weddings can quickly become overwhelmingly expensive. We wanted our wedding to be warm, lively, inviting, and filled with fun, laughter, love, and community – while keeping costs at bay where we could. I enjoy crafting (a hobby P. happily puts up with), so knew I wanted to personalize and DIY as much as I could. I hoped it would alsohelp to keep us on budget. P. and I did many of these projects together, and they helped to make the party feel very much like “us”, and (I hope!) showed our family and friends how much we appreciated their celebrating with and supporting our new family unit.

A quick warning: most of these took a bit of planning (took us months to collect all the corks for the BAR sign from dinners, restaurants, family, and friends) as well as a good deal of time.. however the projects were fun to do, relaxing – if you like to keep your hands busy – and most can be done with minimal tools and attention. In fact, I did most of the projects while watching bad television on Netflix.

Let me know which tutorials you’d like and I’ll make sure to post those first.

Stay tuned for more..

    1) it did feel like a very you and Paul wedding! You could tell as soon as you walked in!
    2) I want the story of your beautiful hairpiece!
